The Christmas Parade Luncheon is a big deal in our county--shoot, for that matter--in our state! Dignitaries for all over come to Bude, MS just to eat at Aunt Pauline's and be seen! Ladies from the county prepare the food and serve as hostesses. It's a HUGE thing. Mary Smith always makes afghans to present the Captain of Industry and the Grand Marshall. In fact, everybody just sort of knows what they are doing each year and just do it--like a well oiled machine.
This year a student was asked to draw a picture of "the road" that goes into the lake (Lake Okhissa--our county's biggest ongoing project for 30 + years for those of you who didn't know it) and guess who that student turned out to be??!! The one and only Abbey Smith, our granddaughter!! She is shown here with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Elmore of Eutaw Construction. The picture was for him. Mr. Wayne Brown, Highway Commissioner told her to go to school, study hard, and he would give her a scholarship to MS State or Ole Miss (boo! hiss!) and that Mr. Elmore could give her a job. I told him I would remember that. Tiffany told him that since they had five children, she would remember it too! LOL :)
Lunch was delicious. The parade went off on schedule even though it rained right before lunch. Aunt Pauline was beautiful and was presented a Resolution since this is the last time she will host the luncheon. She officially moved to Madison yesterday. She is sitting with Margaret and Hellon enjoying that last cup of coffee after the luncheon.
Someone usually manages to catch a pic of Ed and me but that didn't happen. We were too busy visiting. It was a good start to the Christmas season--Happy Holidays everybody.
