and the Master Gardeners had a Flower Show at the Fair Grounds. Several of the MG's went over on Wednesday to take entries and display them. I always enjoy working entries because you learn so much--there's always something new that comes in that you've never seen. Ms Sue White's roses were a delight. She can really grow those roses!
Men were coming in to check out the okra plant. It had to be at least 12 feet tall--they had removed the ceiling tile so it could go through the ceiling and it had at least 40 pods of okra on it. I heard someone say that he had already cut over 80 off of it. The pods were very large and the County Agent said that they were very tender. The man that grew it is trying to get it patented (or whatever you do to seeds!!).
I was impressed with the quilts, the jellies, the exhibits and the building in general. It took me back to my childhood when Mom used to be in the Home Extension Club and we would go with her to do "fairs".
And did I mention that fairs have animals?? You know I ended up in the barn!! Isn't he precious? He's a "cross back" donkey. I wanted to bring him home. And the baby chickens!! Oh, Sam would love those. My picture of the quail didn't turn out but I do intend to have some. The pen is waiting.
And the best of all was this beautiful, sweet brown goat. She just posed for the camera when I talked to her. I don't have a brown one!!
Does "Old Mrs. McDonald" ring a bell!!!
